Titrate joints of Afridi fifty for Pakistan

It was 't the final of edge-of-the-seat which would have disconnected the ICC Twenty20 world cup in the model, but which gained 'the matter of T in Pakistan which gave to their nation one something savor among worried periods. Moment Tilakaratne Dilshan, the tournament the 'top-marker of S, fell into the opening above Pakistan had a handle on the match. Shahid Afridi, which emerged as a their asset, guided its house of team in 19th more with the 54 unconquered ones, and was left to him in Younis Khan to raise the trophy in what he later announced would be his international final Twenty20(results. records), in front of a sea of the delirious defenders of Pakistan.
Pakistan gained’t plays house for the future, but the following they had with this event reinforced the concept that England can be a house of replacement. The masses encouraged as of the access like Abdul Razzaq - a great individual return-history among the team the 'reappearance of S - claimed three principal counters in its glare of opening to leave Sri Lanka on 32 per 4. They never looked at behind in spite of the best efforts of KUMAR Sangakkara.
From time to time the pink tension while the rate required rose, but each time Afridi was in hand with one of its riper turns of beater. It struck the consecutive balls of Muttiah Muralitharan for six and four in 14th more, an attack calculated against a principal bowler hat. The destination of the trophy was sealed when it balanced of the six enormous ones above the midwicket in addition to Isuru Udana in 18th during the moment when Sangakkara played on one of its bowling weaker binds - and followed that with another border in addition to full jet in the high air.
Shoaib Malik played its part with 24 in addition to 22 balls in a stand of match-profit of 76 after Kamran Akmal gave the impulse early to the top-order. The beaters knew that they didn 't must take much risks and of Ajantha played Mendis better than any other team while it was going to seek its more expensive charm of the tournament.
Pakistan the 'rise in S from luxuriant abroad to the champions is an extraordinary posting for a team which had to beat the Netherlands by a significant margin to remain even in case during the stages of group. However, it made a point at the good moment and the couldn’t produced a more complete execution for a final. They fell five races there is the two years short with Johannesburg, but this time there was not any error.

We are not chokers, insists South Africa captain Smith

South African captain Graeme Smith will not let his team be branded chokers anymore despite failing to make the final of the World Twenty20 here.
South Africa, overwhelming favourites after five straight wins in the tournament, were knocked out by Pakistan in a seven-run defeat in Thursday's semi-final.
Shahid Afridi smashed 51 from 34 balls and then grabbed 2-16 with his leg-spin as Pakistan successfully defended 149-4 to restrict the Proteas to 142-5 before a sell-out crowd at Trent Bridge.
"Every time we lose an important game, that word, chokers, is thrown around," a disappointed Smith said after the match.
"But we have played great cricket and I am proud of the way the guys have performed.
"During the last couple of years we have been on an upward curve and the team will improve and get stronger and stronger."
South Africa has faltered in most major multi-nation tournaments like the World Cup and Champions Trophy despite being one of the leading sides in the modern game.
Smith said the semi-final loss hurt, but conceded Pakistan was the better team and deserved to win.
"It is obviously disappointing and sad to be leaving the tournament now," he said.
"We have played some great cricket in this tournament and played some great cricket in the semi-final.
"But Pakistan brought their 'A' game to this match and every cog worked well for them.
Surely it wouldn't happen again? This South African team was primed, ready and in-form. They had all the bases covered and had come through unbeaten to the semi-final. They had countered pressure on numerous occasions in the past two years and had even employed a psychologist who had helped them counter the mind games. Once again, though, it all came to nothing.
The look on Graeme Smith's face as he sat in the dug-out during the closing stages of South Africa's failed run chase was worth a thousand words. History was repeating itself as the favorites were dumped out of another tournament before the final that seemed destined to be theirs. It took until about the half-way mark of the press conference for someone to use the inevitable 'choker' word, but Smith was ready for it; after all he's had practice.
Any cricket match on a given day is simply who the better team on that day is.

Keep in mind South Africa has a decent record against subcontinent teams and it boils down to who plays the best.

Injured Vettori doubtful to play against South Africa

New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori is unlikely to play in their inconsequential World Twenty20 group match against South Africa on Wednesday due to a shoulder injury.

Vettori took a minor part in team training at Lord's on Monday but the spinner, who injured his bowling arm at practice on the eve of New Zealand's seven-wicket win over Scotland, seems certain to be rested until the Super Eights.
Seamer Kyle Mills, who is returning from a back strain since arriving from South Africa, might get a place in the side.

New Zealand confirmed their progression from the group stage when a blazing batting performance atoned for some poor bowling against the unfenced Scots at the Oval Saturday night.
Vettori admitted the bowling effort against Scotland was "exceptionally poor".

"We didn't cope too well with the pressure of playing seven over against a team we should beat," he said.
"Theoretically our game against South Africa is a dead rubber but Twenty20 is all about momentum."

ICC T20 World Cup Schedule 2009, ICC Twenty 20 World cup Timetable 2009

On his views on ICC T20 World Cup 2009(Rules), Mahesh Ranka, General Manager-India, Relay Worldwide, Stardom MediaVest Group, said, “I believe the timing of the game (10 pm) can affect the viewer ship, it has been traditionally seen that whenever India plays against any country, and especially if it is an arch rival, the ratings are bound to go up. All in all, there could be some amount of challenge in terms of ratings and if at all the viewer ship can retained despite the timings.”
He continued, “Indian players are divided into the eight different IPL teams and enough action happens around these teams, whereas for a country team, T20 World Cup having a national connect has wider reach of audience as compared to IPL. However, it would not be fair to compare the two – T20 and IPL – because they are two different things as both are bigger for their own reasons and even in viewer ship profile there is not much difference as they have their own element of following.”
According to Manas Mishra, Country Head, Mudra Context, “I believe the T20 World Cup 2009(Result) should be better than the 2007 World Cup and with India as the defending champions, the enthusiasm for the game has only doubled, but viewer ship will only matter depending on India’s performance. Nevertheless, on the flip side, given that a lot of cricket has already been played, there is also a lot of caution on how much cricket one can take.”
He further said, “In terms of overall net reach of IPL, viewer ship was a little lower, and with T20 World Cup being held after IPL might benefit because there is an expectation for India to play well in international cricket.”
Sanjay Sharma, Director, Synergy, observed, “In terms of ratings, it will be on similar levels, and while T20 was very new last year, this year the expectations are very high because India is the defending champions and since most of the players have got practice in the IPL2 itself, therefore, making consumer interest a little more higher than last year. However, to sustain that viewer ship, India will have to perform well.”
“I feel the audience profile could be broader, however, it is the ownership of the country is far higher as there is a sense of ownership when it comes to the Indian team and, therefore, the audience profile when it comes to a national game is much broader,” he added.
The T20 World Cup 2009(live Scorecard) is scheduled to be held from June 5-21, 2009, in England. The success of the T20 World Cup in 2007 prompted sports broadcaster ESPN-STAR Sports (ESS) to hike its ad rates by 50 per cent for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. According to industry sources, more than 90 per cent of the inventory has been sold.
